Egypt eVisa: fees, 30-day stay & how to apply in 2026

Last reviewed 12 July 2026 · Source: visa2egypt.gov.eg

Egypt offers an electronic visa (eVisa) to citizens of many countries, letting you obtain a tourist visa online instead of queuing for a visa-on-arrival sticker at Cairo or Hurghada. It comes in single- and multiple-entry versions and permits a 30-day stay. This guide covers the official fee, requirements, and the government portal.

Visa on arrival vs. eVisa

Nationals of numerous countries can still buy a visa on arrival at Egyptian airports for a similar fee, but the eVisa lets you arrive with the paperwork already done — useful in peak season or if your airline asks for proof of onward documentation. Both routes grant the same 30-day tourist stay.

Egypt eVisa fees

The government fee is set in US dollars. Treat the figures below as indicative and confirm the current amount when you apply.

Single entry~US$25Up to 30 days
Multiple entry~US$60Up to 30 days per visit

The fee is non-refundable. Note that some travellers visiting only the Sinai resorts (Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahba, Nuweiba, Taba) may qualify for a free Sinai-only entry permit for up to 15 days — but that permit does not allow travel to the pyramids or the Nile valley, for which you need the full visa.

Requirements

How to apply

  1. Register on the official portal at visa2egypt.gov.eg.
  2. Complete the application, entering details exactly as in your passport, and upload your passport scan.
  3. Choose single or multiple entry and submit.
  4. Pay the government fee online.
  5. Receive the approved eVisa by email — usually within about a week — then print it and carry it with your passport.

Entry & validity

Enter Egypt within the validity window printed on your eVisa, and stay no longer than 30 days per visit. Overstaying leads to fines on departure. Keep the printed eVisa with you; hotels and checkpoints may ask to see it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Egypt eVisa cost?

Roughly US$25 for single entry and US$60 for multiple entry, paid on the official portal. Confirm the current fee before applying.

Can I get a visa on arrival instead?

Many nationalities can, at a similar price. The eVisa simply lets you sort it out in advance.

Do I need a visa for Sharm El-Sheikh only?

A free Sinai-only permit may cover short resort stays, but not the rest of Egypt. If you plan to see Cairo or Luxor, get the full visa.

How long does processing take?

Usually up to five to seven business days. Apply at least a week ahead.

Do children need their own eVisa?

Yes. Each traveller with a passport needs a separate application.

Requirements and fees can change. Always confirm the current details on visa2egypt.gov.eg before you apply.
